MANCHESTER – At the June 9 Board of School Committee meeting, the Manchester School District will recognize the 56 staff members who are retiring this year. Some retired during the school year, but the majority will finish up their time in Manchester when the school year ends next month.
The retirees will be feted during the recognitions portion of the June 9 meeting, a little more than a week before the close of school on June 17.
“Our District is truly grateful for the dedication of these retiring staff members, who showed up day after day, year after year, for our students,” said Superintendent Jennifer Chmiel. “They represent nearly every school in the District, plus a handful from our central office, and they served in a variety of roles, including teachers, building administrators, paraprofessionals, administrative assistants and more.”
While we cannot truly measure the true impact of these dedicated staff members, we can measure the actual years and time they spent in our schools. In total, the retiring staff served 1,161 years in our schools. This means that this group spent roughly 84,317,625 minutes in our schools across their collective careers.
“Each one of these retirees made an impact and made a difference for our schools and students,” Chmiel said. “We look forward to celebrating them at our June 9 meeting, and we wish them well – they will be missed.”
The 56 District retirees include some who spent decades here and others who finished their careers in the city. The school and years listed below reflect their final work location and the total years of service in the district – many have served additional years in other school districts or in private schools.
